1st AWIT SA DIYOS NEW MASS HYMNS SONGWRITING COMPETITION

The AWIT SA DIYOS: New Mass Hymns Competition is a search for the Philippines’ best new liturgical songs and is open to amateur and professional Roman Catholic lay songwriters. Through AWIT SA DIYOS, the Bahay ng Diyos Foundation Inc., the competition's producer, offers an opportunity for the faithful to express their thoughts and feelings about worship and praise during the Holy Mass. With the creation of songs, contestants will share their talents with the Roman Catholic community and demonstrate that liturgical music is an integral part of our celebrations and worship. The Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral has been chosen as one of the interpreters of four out of eighteen songs along with other church choirs namely Regina Coeli Choir, Imusicapella, and Coro de San Sebastian.

A full-repertoire featuring the mass songs composed by the late Rev. Fr. Eduardo Hontiveros is sung by the Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral Choir in a tribute mass held on the 17th of October, 2013, 6:00 am at the St. Paul Renewal Center, Alfonso, Cavite. Other Filipino composers including Ryan Cayabyab, Manoling Francisco, and Lucio San Pedro were also given tribute by singing their works for the church in a mass held every morning in this four day event.
Participants from various sector of the society, like students, young professionals, priests, businessmen, etc., attended the said conference.

In celebration of more than two years of music and friendship, the Anima Christi Chorale (Lucena City, Quezon) and the Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral Choir (Diocese of Imus, Cavite) once again come and join together in one spectacular musical event featuring choral works mostly done by top caliber Filipino arrangers. Entitled "We are One", the concert's repertoire showcases songs stretching from classical to contemporary era. Spearheaded by Mr. Joel Boragay, ACC once again hosts the event. Also, officers and friends from the Philippine Choral Directors Association, namely Mr. Jonathan Velasco (PCDA President) and Mr. Luis Manalili Jr. (PCDA Region III Coordinator), are invited to witness the event and to conduct tutti songs in the repertoire. Mr. Boragay is the Regional Coordinator of PCDA Region IV-A.
ACC and OLPCC's first joint concert was held last November 05, 2011 at Lucena City.
