The Cathedral Choir
The Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral Choir is the brainchild of
the Most Rev. Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle during his seat as the bishop of
the Diocese of Imus. Established in September 2005, the choir draws its members
from various parishes of the Cavite.
Currently the sole artistic group managed by the Diocesan Ministry on Liturgical Music, the OLPCC performs for important local, national and international events held in the Diocese. At the parish level, OLPCC serves at the evening mass every first Sunday of the month at the Our Lady of thePillar Cathedral. The choir also supports charity and social programs of the different parish and diocesan ministries in addition to its regular church functions. Beyond the boundaries of Cavite, OLPCC participates in competitions and festivals, notably Madz Et Al since 2007, as part of the artistic development program for its members.
The Cathedral Choir is actively engaged in promoting choral music all over the diocese. Throughout the year, the choir embarks on a parish tour and pilgrimage where it also provides free choral workshops to the choirs of each host parish. The choir also invites the Philippine’s leading choral and liturgical music experts in its annual choral workshops.
The choir's founding music director, conductor and resident arranger is Oscar Pantaleon Jr., an alumnus of the Philippine Madrigal Singers and the first Secretary General of the Philippine Choral Directors Association, who now guest conducts for select performances. Taking over as resident conductor is Kendrick Lawrence Delgado, a founding member of the Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral Choir and an active member of the Philippine Choral Directors Association.
